KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 13 — [12.30am] Based on the full official results from the Election Commission’s (EC) website for all six states, Pakatan Harapan (PH) and Barisan Nasional (BN) will be able to form government in Selangor, Penang and Negeri Sembilan, while Perikatan Nasional (PN) can keep ruling Kedah, Kelantan and Terengganu.

This was predicted by independent pollsters including Ilham Centre and Merdeka Center, whose pre-election surveys showed that it was likely to be status quo, with three states each for both sides of the political divide.

PH and BN managed to win more than two-thirds majority in Negeri Sembilan and Penang, but were denied two-thirds majority in Selangor.

In Negeri Sembilan, PH and BN collectively won 31 of the 36 seats, while PN won only five.

In Penang, PH and BN won a combined 29 of the 40 seats, while PN won 11.

In Selangor, PH and BN won a combined 34 of the 56 seats, while PN won 22.

PN won all 32 seats in Terengganu.

In Kedah, PN won 33 of 36 seats there, while PH won the remaining three.

In Kelantan, PN won 43 of the 45 seats there, while BN and PH won one seat each.

[11.41pm] Official — Pakatan wins simple majority in Selangor, Pakatan-BN wins 31 out of 36 Negeri Sembilan seats

The Election Commission (EC) announced that Pakatan Harapan has won 29 of 56 seats in Selangor, which means the coalition has the majority required to form government.

In Negeri Sembilan, Pakatan Harapan (17 seats) and Barisan Nasional (14 seats) have collectively won 31 of the 36 state seats there, with Perikatan Nasional only winning the remaining five seats.

[10:58pm] Official — Perikatan and Pakatan retain Kedah and Penang respectively with over 50pc of vote

Perikatan Nasional won Kedah while Pakatan Harapan won Penang with over 50 per cent of majority vote

Based on Election Commission announcement, Perikatan Nasional (PN) has won 19 seats out of 36 seats in Kedah.

While Pakatan Harapan has won 21 seats out of 40 seats in Penang with over 50 per cent of the majority vote.

[10.51pm] Official — Rais Yatim’s son loses Klawang to Pakatan

In official results from the Election Commission, former Dewan Negara speaker Tan Sri Rais Yatim’s son Danni Rais lost as Perikatan Nasional’s candidate in the Klawang seat in Negeri Sembilan in a three-cornered fight to Pakatan Harapan’s incumbent Datuk Bakri Sawir.

Bakri won 4,598 votes, giving him a 577-vote majority over Danni’s 4,021 votes, while an independent candidate contesting as Angah Saiful won 364 votes.

In 2018, Bakri won the seat with a 976-vote majority.

[10.42pm] Unofficial — Isa Samad’s wife wins; officially, their son loses in Negeri Sembilan

Unofficially, former Negeri Sembilan menteri besar Tan Sri Mohd Isa Abdul Samad’s wife Puan Sri Bibi Sharliza Mohd Khalid — who is also Negeri Sembilan Umno Wanita chief — has won Juasseh (N15) in the state for Barisan Nasional. In 2018, BN won this seat with a 692-vote majority.

Officially, Isa Samad’s son Najib (7,495 votes) has as BN’s candidate lost the Bagan Pinang (N31) seat in Negeri Sembilan to Perikatan Nasional’s Abdul Fatah Zakaria (10,921 votes). PN won with a 3,426-vote majority.

In 2018, BN won Bagan Pinang with a 1,935-vote majority in a straight fight against PH.

[10.37pm] Official — PH-BN has two-thirds majority in Negeri Sembilan

Officially, the Election Commission’s (EC) site shows that Pakatan Harapan and BN collectively won 25 seats so far in Negeri Sembilan, giving them a two-thirds majority.

Perikatan Nasional has so far won just three seats. There are eight more seats in Negeri Sembilan pending official results, including the Juasseh seat.

Unofficially, Dr Afif Bahardin, who was a PKR leader before he joined Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia, has won the Taman Medan seat in Selangor for Perikatan Nasional (PN) in a straight fight against Pakatan Harapan’s (PH) Ahmad Akhir Pawan Chik.

In 2018, PH won Taman Medan with a 10,940 vote-majority in a three-cornered fight.

[10:08pm] Official — Perikatan wins Terengganu and Kelantan, says EC

Based on official results from the Election Commission (EC), Perikatan Nasional (PN) via PAS has won a majority of seats in Terengganu and Kelantan.

The number of seats won by PN in Terengganu and Kedah are 17 and 23 respectively.

Barisan Nasional’s (BN) Datuk Seri Reezal Merican Naina Merican has officially won the Bertam state seat in Penang, successfully defeating the incumbent Khaliq Mehtab Mohd Ishaq.

Based on official results, Pakatan Harapan (PH) won Teratai (N22) seat in Selangor with a majority vote of 42,519 over Perikatan Nasional (PN).

[9:57pm] Official — Mahfuz Omar loses Alor Mengkudu as Perikatan wins eight in Kedah

Based on the Election Commission’s (EC) official results, Perikatan Nasional (PN) has won eight of the 36 state seats in Kedah, with the biggest casualty now being Kedah Pakatan Harapan (PH) chief Datuk Mahfuz Omar.

Mahfuz lost the Alor Mengkudu (N14) seat in a straight fight with PN’s Radhi Mat Din.

Radhi won 18,936 votes, which gave him a 10,104 vote-majority over Mahfuz’s 8,832 votes.

As of official results now, PH has won one seat in Kedah via Kota Darul Aman, with a 5,650-vote majority win in a straight fight against PN.

[9:47pm] Official — Noh Omar’s daughter wins Permatang in Selangor for PN

Former Umno Selangor chairman Tan Sri Noh Omar’s daughter Nurul Syazwani Noh has won the Permatang seat in Selangor for Perikatan Nasional, with a 1,728-vote majority over Pakatan Harapan.

She successfully wrested over the seat from PH, which had won it with a 1,158-vote majority in 2018.

[9:46pm] Unofficial — DAP leading in one seat in Kedah

Based on unofficial results, DAP is leading in Kota Darul Aman (N13) seat in Kedah.

Unofficial counting as of 9.45pm, Pakatan Harapan via DAP has won 43 per cent of votes and Perikatan Nasional has received 22 per cent of votes out of 16,360 of votes.

[9:30pm] Unofficial — Azmin Ali wins Hulu Kelang in Selangor; Rina Harun loses Batu Tiga; BN wins Dusun Tua

Unofficially, former Selangor menteri besar Datuk Seri Azmin Ali has won the Hulu Kelang seat in Selangor in a straight fight against Pakatan Harapan’s Juwairiya Zulkifli.

Unofficially, with just one channel left uncounted, Azmin had gained 25,123 votes against Juwairiya’s 24,060 votes.

Unofficially, former minister Datuk Seri Rina Harun has lost the Batu Tiga contest in Selangor in a three-corner fight to Pakatan Harapan’s Danial Al-Rashid Haron.

Unofficially, Barisan Nasional’s Johan Abdul Aziz has won the Dusun Tiga seat in Selangor, which its ally DAP had ceded way to let it contest in.

[9.26pm] Unofficial — Pakatan-BN wins Kota Lama, Galas in Kelantan, Pelabuhan Klang in Selangor, Gemencheh in Negeri Sembilan

Unofficially, Pakatan Harapan has won the Kota Lama (N09) and Barisan Nasional (BN) has won Galas (N45), both in Kelantan.

Unofficially, PH has won Pelabuhan Klang (N46) in Selangor, while BN has won Gemencheh (N09) in Negeri Sembilan.

Based on unofficial results, Pakatan Harapan (PH) via DAP is leading in the Pulau Tikus (N25) seat in Penang where PH picked up 50 per cent of votes and PN has gotten eight per cent of votes out of 59 per cent of votes.

Based on unofficial results, Pakatan Harapan (PH) has won 10 seats in Selangor, namely Subang Jaya (N31), Bandar Baru Klang (N45), Banting (N52), Pandamaran (N47), Seri Kembangan (N28), Kinrara (N30), Bandar Utama (N36), Sekinchan (N04), Bukit Gasing (N34), Kampung Tunku (N35).

[9:0pm] DAP leads in several more seats in Selangor and Negeri Sembilan

Unofficial counting shows that DAP is also leading in other state seats in Selangor, namely Kampung Tunku (N35), Bukit Gasing (N34), Subang Jaya (N31) and Kinrara (N30).

In Kampung Tunku where 54 per cent of votes has counted, PH is picking up with 50 per cent of votes while PN has five per cent of votes.

In Bukit Gasing, where 59 per cent of votes has counted, PH has picked up 51 per cent, PN has six per cent of votes and Muda has three per cent of votes.

In Subang Jaya, 68 per cent of votes has been counted, PH has picked up 55 per cent of votes, PN has gotten nine per cent of votes and Muda has gotten five per cent of votes.

Whereas, in Kinrara, 63 per cent of votes has counted and PH led with 51 per cent and PN has gotten 12 per cent.

Based on unofficial counting, DAP is leading in Mambau (N23) and Repah (N360 seats in Selangor.

PH picking up 58 per cent of votes and PN has gotten eight per cent of votes out of 67 per cent of votes in Mambau seat, while, in Repah PH picked up 43 per cent of votes and PN with 21 per cent.

[9:07pm] Unofficial — Caretaker Selangor MB Amirudin Shari successfully keeps Sungai Tua seat

He has won the Sungai Tua seat in a three-cornered fight, based on unofficial results.

As of now, 11 ballot boxes have yet to be counted.

In 2018, he had won the same seat with an overwhelming 11,374 vote-majority.

Unofficially, PAS candidate Baddrol Bakhtiar — former captain of Kedah's football team — wins the Gurun state seat in Kedah in a straight fight against Pakatan Harapan's (PH) Mohammed Firdaus Johari who is the son of Dewan Rakyat speaker Tan Sri Johari Abdul.

PH had via Mohammed Firdaus's father previously won this seat in 2018 with a 4,207 vote-majority.

Unofficially, former Kedah menteri besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor has won the Jeneri state seat in a straight fight against Perikatan Nasional’s Muhamad Khizri Abu Kassim.

[8:40pm] Unofficial — Pakatan’s Altimet leads in Lembah Jaya seat in Selangor

Unofficially, rapper-turned-politician Syed Ahmad Syed Abdul Rahman Alhadad, better known as Altimet, is now in the lead for Pakatan Harapan (PH) in the Lembah Jaya (N20) state seat in Selangor.

Unofficial counting as of 8.30pm shows Altimet took 25,323 votes, or 5,855 votes more than Perikatan Nasional’s Sharifah Haslizah Syed Arifin has 19,468 votes.

In official voter turnout figures as of 4pm, 41,582 voters had turned up to vote in Lembah Jaya.

Based on unofficial news, Perikatan Nasional (PN) is leading in Kijal (N30) and Bukit Payung (N18) in Terengganu.

PN’s Zamri Mantop won with 15,447 votes while BN had 8,605 votes.

In 2018, BN had won the seat with a 2,330 vote-majority.

Based on unofficial results, Pakatan Harapan (PH) via DAP has won the Air Hitam (N33) seat, Seri Delima (N32) and Berapit (N13) in Penang.

There also has been leading in Negeri Sembilan, namely with Bukit Kepayang (N21) and Seremban Jaya (N24) with PH picking up 18526 votes (41 per cent of votes) and PN with 3962 votes (9 per cent votes) and PH with 11753 votes (37 per cent of votes) and PN with 2676 votes (9 per cent of votes).

DAP is also leading in Selangor, namely Pandamaran (N47), Bandar Baru Klang (N45) and Balakong (N27) in Selangor with PH picking up 40 per cent of votes and 38 per cent of votes respectively.

Perikatan Nasional (PN) supporters are seen filling up the Concorde Hotel in Shah Alam quickly as votes from six state elections are being counted.

The traffic outside the hotel is gradually building, as more supporters arrive at the hotel, waiting in anticipation for the party leaders to arrive.

While no party leaders are seen yet, they are expected to arrive from 8.30pm onwards.

Voting stations shut at 6pm earlier, with an average of 60 per cent voter turnout.

Unofficially, caretaker Penang chief minister Chow has won the Padang Kota state seat in Penang, in a straight fight with Perikatan Nasional.

Unofficially, former Negeri Sembilan menteri besar and current Defence Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan has won the Rantau seat in the state.

Unofficially, Barisan Nasional’s Datuk Seri Jalaluddin Alias has won Pertang in Negeri Sembilan.

Unofficial results show DAP chairman Lim Guan Eng as successfully defending his Air Putih seat in Penang in a three-corner fight.

From the 65 per cent of the votes counted, Lim took 8,710 votes for Pakatan Harapan, while Perikatan Nasional’s Ivan Kong Cheng Ann took 764 votes and Parti Rakyat Malaysia’s Teh Yee Cheu won 426 votes.

In 2018, Lim won the seat with a 7,958 vote-majority.

[8:00pm] Unofficial — DAP sec-gen Anthony Loke wins Chennah seat in Negeri Sembilan

Unofficially, DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke has won the Chennah (N01) state seat in Negeri Sembilan in a straight fight against Perikatan Nasional’s Rosmadi Arif.

Loke is the incumbent in this seat, having won it with a 1,155 vote-majority in a three-corner fight in the 2018 state elections.

[7:56pm] Unofficial — With a third of votes counted, Pakatan stretches lead in Balakong and Bandar Baru Klang

Pakatan Harapan (PH) looks set to defend Balakong and Bandar Baru Klang in Selangor for the state election.

Both seats are represented by PH-DAP candidates Quah Perng Fei and Wayne Ong Chun Wei are leading by more than 20,000 votes after a third of votes has been counted.

In Banting, PH-DAP candidate V. Papparaidu is leading by 21,396 in a three-cornered fight as 90 per cent of votes has been counted.

In Rahang, 42 per cent of votes have been counted and PH is said to have 5,939 votes (30 per cent of votes counted) and PN with 2,363 votes (four per cent of votes counted).

[7:47pm] Unofficial — Pakatan wins first Selangor seat with Sekinchan

Unofficial counting shows that Pakatan Harapan (PH) has won its first state seat in Selangor in Sekinchan.

Based on early counting where 56 per cent of votes have been counted, PH’s Ng Suee Lim took 8,862 votes, while Perikatan Nasional’s (PN) Goh Gaik Meng took 4,461 votes.

Unofficial figures put Pakatan Harapan’s Anthony Loke, who is the DAP secretary-general, in the lead in Chennah, where he is said to have secured a significant proportion of Malay and Orang Asli votes.

[7:41pm] Unofficial — Pakatan wins Bagan Jermal and Padang Lalang in Penang

Based on unofficial results, Pakatan Harapan (PH) via DAP has won the Bagan Jermal (N08) seat and Padang Lalang (N15) seat in Penang.

Based on early counting, 62 per cent of votes in Bagan Jermal has been counted, with PH picking up 53 per cent of the votes (17,083 votes) as compared to Perikatan Nasional’s (PN) 10 per cent of votes counted (2,989 votes).

Based on early counting with 27 per cent votes counted in Padang Lalang, PH picked up 24 per cent (8,357 votes) while PN took three per cent (937 votes).

Over at the Selangor PH-BN state election result announcement centre in Wyndham Acmar Hotel, Klang, the atmosphere was observably indifferent.

There was no sign of any candidates’ arrival just yet as the event is scheduled to official start at 8.30pm.

[7:16pm] Unofficial — Penang: DAP leading in four seats in early counts

Unofficial counting shows that DAP is leading in early counts for four state seats in Penang, namely Komtar (N28) where 46 per cent of votes have been counted so far, with Pakatan Harapan (PH) said to have 5,759 votes (37 per cent of votes counted) and Perikatan Nasional (PN) having 1,371 votes (nine per cent of votes counted).

Based on early counts, the three other Penang seats where DAP is currently leading are Batu Lancang (N31) with 27 per cent of votes counted (PH at 8,361 votes or 26 per cent, PN at 567 votes), Pengkalan Kota (N27) with 40 per cent votes counted (PH at 8,204 and PN at 386 votes), Padang Lalang (N15) with 27 per cent votes counted (PH at 8,357 votes and PN at 937 votes).

[7:05pm] Unofficial — Pakatan leads in key Selangor state seats

According to unofficial figures from the vote count so far, Pakatan Harapan is in the lead in some key Selangor state seats:

In Bandar Baru Klang, where 14 per cent of ballots have been counted, Pakatan Harapan has 10,296 votes to Perikatan Nasional’s 1,226.

Meanwhile, in Seri Kembangan, where 8 per cent of ballots have been counted, PH has 4,636 votes, PN 444 and Independent 174.

In Balakong, where 16 per cent of ballots have been counted, PH has 15,039 votes to PN’s 2,394.

In Kampung Tunku, where 9 per cent of ballots have been counted, PH has 4,989 votes to PN’s 500.

In Sekinchan, where 36 per cent of ballots have been counted, PH has 5,701 votes to PN’s 2,873.

In Dusun Tua, where 5 per cent of ballots have been counted, PN has secured 1,517 votes, BN 520 and Muda 22.

[6pm] Polling centres closes for six state elections

Voting has officially ended for the state elections in Kedah, Kelantan, Negeri Sembilan, Penang, Selangor, and Terengganu held today, which have continued the fierce political contest in Malaysia tracing back to last year’s 15th general election.

The results will show if Malaysians have accepted the new alliance between Pakatan Harapan (PH) and Barisan Nasional (BN), which set aside their former rivalry to form a unity government after the general election resulted in a hung Parliament.

They will also confirm if the so-called “green wave” of religious conservatism, which propelled the Perikatan Nasional to the cusp of victory in the same election, is still sweeping the country.

All 3,190 polling centres for the state elections in six states opened at 8am today and closed at 6pm.

The official results will be announced by the Election Commission tonight after ballots are counted at the 186 vote-tallying centres.

A total of 9,674,456 regular voters out of the 9,773,571 registered voters were eligible to vote in the six state elections today, which saw 570 candidates contesting a total of 245 seats in the state assemblies.

The Penang state assembly has 40 seats, Selangor (56), Negeri Sembilan (36), Kedah (36), Terengganu (32) and Kelantan has 45.
