KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 9 — The Film Censorship Board (LPF) is inviting creative industry players to participate in engagement sessions to give their feedback on the amendments to the LPF guidelines that it had been working on for the past two years.
LPF chairman Datuk Mohd Dusuki Ya’acob said the feedback was important for the board to improve the quality of its services to meet the current needs of the creative industry.
He said last time the LPF guidelines were amended was in 2010.
“We are now in the final stages of coming up with the guidelines. However, we still need input and information from the industry.
“We are willing to listen to their views... and we want to know what they require in the new guidelines. Only then, will there be mutual understanding,” he told reporters after the briefing on film classification 2023, here today.
More than 100 local creative industry players attended the briefing session to hear more about the implementation of the 2023 Film Classification which came into force on Feb 1.
Mohd Dusuki said that after obtaining all views from the industry players, LPF will hold another engagement session with them before the matter is brought to the Home Ministry for endorsement.
However, Mohd Dusuki said the amended guidelines still maintain its four main pillars, namely security, religion, race and culture. — Bernama
