KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 20 — Negri Sembilan Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun reportedly said he has not been listed as PKR's candidate for the Port Dickson federal seat in the 15th general electon (GE15).

He said many want him to contest the seat should party president and incumbent MP Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim choose elsewhere, but he said he stopped Port Dickson PKR from submiting his name as a candidate.

"We are aware of speculation that Anwar may not be defending his parliamentary seat as he has received offers to stand elsewhere.

"It is up to Anwar to decide on the candidate. But I can confirm that my name was not submitted as one of the options,” Aminuddin told The Star after chairing the state exco meeting yesterday.

According to the English daily, the Port Dickson PKR chief has been rumoured to replace Anwar if the latter opts to contest another seat.

Aminuddin said that the state's divisions had sent in several names of potential candidates for seats to be contested by the party, and these were whittled down to two or three before they were submitted to Anwar.

The PKR vice-president added that these names include individuals from various backgrounds, such as NGOs and professionals but they will be assessed by the party leadership for their suitability.

He also confirmed that PKR will contest three parliamentary seats in Negri Sembilan: Port Dickson, Rembau, and Kuala Pilah.

Meanwhile, PKR’s allies Parti Amanah Negara will contest Jelebu, Jempol, and Tampin, and DAP Seremban and Rasah.
