IPOH, March 2 — The 1Malaysia People’s Housing Project (PR1MA) has received the green light to start its project in Teluk Intan, its MP Datuk Seri Mah Siew Keong said today.

He said the project, scheduled to be completed in 2020, will be located next to the Teluk Intan Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI) campus.

“The project on a 56ha site on Jalan Changkat Jong will consists of 957 single and double storey units with an estimated Gross Development Value of RM232 million,” he said.

Speaking to reporters after visiting the home expo at the Ipoh Convention Centre here, Mah, who is also plantation industries and commodities minister, said phase one of the project will consist of 523 of single-storey units.

“The selling price will be at RM180,000,” he said.

Also present was PR1MA chief executive officer Datuk Abdul Mutalib Alias.

Mah added that with the construction of the UPSI campus targeted for completion by end of this year, the PR1MA @ Teluk Intan development will help to further drive the city’s growth while meeting the middle-income group’s request to own comfortable and quality housing.

Abdul Mutalib said there was a wide selection of homes for Malaysians from all income levels available at the expo.

“More than 70 per cent of these homes are priced below RM250,000,” he said.

The PR1MA projects in Perak are located at Bagan Serai, Bandar Meru Raya, Teluk Intan, Kamunting, Lumut and Sitiawan.

The five-day expo, which was opened by Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Zambry Abd Kadir on Thursday, ends on next Monday.

After Perak, the expo will move on to Sabah from March 15 to 19 and Kuala Lumpur from March 24 to April 1.
