KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 6 — The businessman with a ‘Datuk Seri’ title who was charged with attacking and injuring three People’s Volunteer Corps (Rela) personnel last week, faced two charges at two separate magistrate’s court here today, of taking drugs.
Liow Soon Hee, 29, claimed trial at Kuala Lumpur Magistrate’s Court to taking methamphetamine inside the toilet of the Narcotics Criminal Investigation office at Dang Wangi district police headquarters (IPD) at 9.40pm on Feb 11, 2014.
Magistrate Namirah Hanum Mohamed Albaki set RM2,000 as bail with one surety and an additional condition that the accused must report to the nearest police station once a month.
The court also set Dec 4 for remention.
Liow also claimed trial in Ampang Magistrate’s Court to taking amphetamine and methamphetamine at the Narcotics Criminal Investigation Division office at Ampang Jaya IPD at 5pm on Oct 30.
Magistrate Haslinda A.Raof set RM3,000 as bail with one surety who must be a Malaysian citizen, and Dec 14 for remention.
The charges framed under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, carries a maximum two years jail or a fine of up to RM5,000 and up to three years police supervision, on conviction.
Deputy public prosecutor Akmal Anuar and Raihanah Abdul Razak appeared for the prosecution while counsel Farhana Abd Halim represented the accused.
On Friday, Liow claimed trial at Ampang Sessions Court to one charge of voluntarily causing grievous hurt, one charge of using criminal force to obstruct a public servant from carrying out his duty, and two counts of voluntarily causing hurt.
He allegedly committed the offences on the Rela personnel at the compound of a Chinese temple in Jalan Merdeka, Kampung Baru Ampang here, around 6.30am on Oct 27. — Bernama
