“It is not easy for government departments and agencies to be involved in the UTC operations until today. The establishment of the UTC which has now become a successful and creative service provider should be commended,” he said.

In the meantime, he said by renovating and transforming ‘white elephant’ building projects to be used as UTC proved to be a success for the government’.

“We were thinking in terms of creating added value to existing buildings to be used as service centres offering a variety of services to the people.

“In addition, through excellent management the renovation and transformation of the buildings were completed within the time frame,” he said.

Meanwhile, Ahmad Zahid described the establishment of the UTC as very close to his heart because he had worked together with the prime minister in developing the project.

At the event, Ahmad Zahid also launched the UTC Establishment and Management Guidebook which explained in detail the roles and responsibilities of UTC managers in managing the UTC, including operation hours, rental of office space, maintenance, utility fees and UTC asset management. — Bernama
