PETALING JAYA, May 14 — PKR vice-president Rafizi Ramli announced today that he would publish on social media his own proposed policies on various issues to gather public feedback.

Through his big-data analytics outfit Invoke Centre for Policy Initiatives, the Pandan MP also said he would track various political parties’ positions on issues and policies that he would present.

“This is what policymaking is supposed to be. It shouldn’t be in the confines of the high-level priests of politics in the meeting rooms.

“It’s about time that policies are returned back to the people who mattered the most,” Rafizi said during the launch of his book A Guide to Rebuilding Our Nation (Vol 1) in Subang Jaya here.

According to Rafizi, the book launched today was the first of two volumes. The first book will deal with economic and market labour reforms, while the second will deal with political, civil service and anti-corruption reforms.

Rafizi said he was initially warned by a friend of his that through his method, his ideas could be stolen by certain political parties ahead of the upcoming polls.

“So I said, we have to get out of that mentality because it is in our interest that whatever that is proposed here is to be implemented.

“For an example, if BN (Barisan Nasional) is in power and they implemented the policies we put forward, so be it,” he said.

By making public a politician’s endorsement of a certain policy, the public will be able to further scrutinise the behaviour of politicians.

“So, it’s all about discipline and political will. At the end of the day, the ones who will benefit the most are the Average Joes on the streets,” said Rafizi.

Subsequent volumes of Rafizi’s book will be released every two months, with the second volume set to be released in July.
