TAWAU, Nov 20 — The Indonesian national who was trampled to death by a wild elephant at Ladang Kelapa Sawit Dumpas yesterday was believed to have suffered serious injuries in the head, spine, chest and abdomen.

Tawau police chief ACP Fadil Marsus said the victim Ciin Bedu, 48, an oil palm plantation worker was attacked at around 3pm.

“A post-mortem revealed there were fractures to his cranial and facial bones. His left and right ribs were broken.

“There were also injuries in the cervical and lumbar spine, liver and right kidney and his brain was severely damaged,” he told reporters here today.

Meanwhile, a farm worker who requested anonymity said the incident happened in the presence of 20 other workers.

“The victim was unaware that he was about to be attacked,” he added. — Bernama
