PASIR MAS, Nov 8 — Police obtained an order from the Magistrate’s Court here today to remand for another seven days a man suspected of causing the death of a Customs officer in an incident last Oct 7.
The order to extend the remand of the suspect, known as Mat Yeh, 34, was issued by Magistrate Mohamad Izuddin Mohd Shukri.
Mat Yeh had been in remand for investigation under Section 302 of the Penal Code since last week, and the order expired today.
In the incident on Oct 7, Kelantan Customs officer, Anisah Ali, 54, was injured when the vehicle she was in along with two colleagues was said to have been rammed by a ‘tonto’ in a four-wheel drive vehicle in Kampung Banggol Chica, Pasir Mas.
Anisah was rushed to the Pasir Mas Hospital before being referred to the Raja Perempuan Zainab II Hospital in Kota Bharu for further treatment, but remained in a coma before succumbing to her injuries a day later.
The Customs car was in pursuit of two vans believed to be smuggling cigarettes when a four wheel-drive driven by a ‘tonto’ (thug) rammed into the vehicle. — Bernama
