ALOR STAR, Sept 18 — A four-year-old boy drowned when the car he was in with three other family members, skidded and plunged into Sungai Santap in Pokok Sena here today.

The body of Muhammad Rizal Zakwan, the youngest of five children, was found in the riverbed about two hours after the fire and rescue department personnel arrived at the scene.

His father, Mohd Razi Md Akib, 54, managed to rescue the victim’s two other sisters, Nurul Rasyidah, 15, and Nurul Rasyikah, 11, in the 1.30pm incident.

“After the car plunged into the river, the rear window was broken and I rescued my daughters first.

“When I returned to look for Muhammad Rizal, the water had already filled the car and I could not locate him,” he said.

In KUANTAN (Pahang), a fisherman is feared drown when he jumped off a boat which anchored in the Kuala Rompin waters, about 33 nautical miles off Tanjung Gemok on Thursday midnight.

Although a search and rescue operation was mounted since 3pm on Friday, there has been no sign of Muhamad Saifudin Mamat, 32, from Endau, Johor.

Maritime Eastern Region director, First Admiral Datuk Mamu Said Alee said the fisherman had jumped off the boat with a lifebuoy. — Bernama
