JOHOR BARU, July 9 — The authorities’ move to step up security at every corner of the country following the bomb explosion in Puchong on June 28 is necessary to assure the country’s foreign investors.
Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin said investors placed great emphasis on peace and security of a country before pumping their money into it.
“We know, among the factors that investors take into account are security and peace. Today, with the security approach we have taken, it is obvious that investor confidence has increased, particularly in Johor.
“The people are still free to go about their activities despite the plans, threats and intimidations made against Malaysia,” he said while commenting on the direct threat posed by Daesh militants to Johor’s economy.
Mohamed Khaled who is also Permas assemblyman said this to reporters at his constituency’s Aidilfitri Open House at Pasir Gudang indoor stadium here today.
Eight people were injured in the bomb explosion at an entertainment outlet, IOI Boulevard in Puchong last week.
Police are tracking down two local men, Md Saifuddin Muji, 28, and Jasanizam Rosni, 33, from Johor who are suspected to have received orders from Malaysian Daesh terrorists in Syria to carry out the crime. — Bernama
