KUALA LUMPUR, March 1 — A former sales assistant at a Watsons health and beauty store was sentenced to three days’ jail and fined RM3,000 by the Magistrate’s Court here today for stealing RM1,106 from its outlet.

Magistrate Husna Dzulkifly handed down the sentence on Mohd Hasrullah Zulkifli, 27, who pleaded guilty to the charge.

Mohd Hasrullah was charged with stealing the money belonging to Watsons Malaysia at the Watsons premise at the Taman Maluri Jusco branch, Jalan Jejaka, Cheras here, between 2.49pm and 6.41pm on March 9, 2009.

Now a char kuey teow trader, Mohd Hasrullah was ordered to serve the jail sentence from the date of his arrest, which was last Feb 27, and to serve another six months’ jail, if he failed to pay the fine.

In mitigation, lawyer Azi Azlin, representing Mohd Hasrullah, said her client had no previous record, was a responsible person with earning of only RM1,000 a month and had two children and a wife to support.
