KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 10 — There was a slight drop in the number of flood evacuees in Sarawak as of 9pm today while there was not much change in Johor and Melaka.
Sarawak Civil Defence Department (JPAM) public relations officer Siti Huzaimah Ibrahim told Bernama that 5,412 flood victims were still being sheltered at 28 relief centres in Kuching, Bau and Serian, a drop of 121 people as compared to 5,533 people in the afternoon.
“Twenty relief centres are in operation in Kuching and four each in Bau and Serian,” she said.
Meanwhile, checks by Bernama at kampungs along Sungai Sarawak found the police using helicopters to monitor the flood situation while JPAM was doing the same using a drone operated by its member Winston Lim Wei Tiong.
In MELAKA, 44 people from 11 families at still sheltered at Sekolah Kebangsaan Belimbing Dalam, Durian Tunggal, Alor Gajah as compared to 49 people from 14 families earlier today.
In JOHOR, 10 people from two families still remained sheltered a relief centre in Segamat. — Bernama
