KUCHING, Jan 2 — The flood situation in Sarawak is improving as the number of flood victims placed at relief centres continues to decline.

State Civil Defence Department public relations officer Siti Huzaimah Ibrahim said as a result, three relief centres in the Lundu District of the Kuching Division, namely the Kampung Paon community hall, Surau Nurul Huda Kampung Belungei and the Kampung Jangkar community hall which housed 116 people were closed at noon today.

She said as of 9pm today, 127 flood victims from 31 families remained at two relief centers in the Samarahan and Serian divisions.

She said the relief centre at the Samarahan Civic Centre housed 71 people from 14 families and the Serian Division relief centre in Surau Darul Hadhari Kampung Rimba Padi in Asajaya has 56 flood victims from 17 families. — Bernama
