KOTA BELUD, Dec 6 ― More than 600 firefighters and rescuers are needed to face possible floods in the state.
Urban Wellbeing, Housing and Local Government Minister Datuk Abdul Rahman Dahlan said the state's Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) had even frozen the leave of its personnel as part of the preparations for its flood operations.
"I'm satisfied with the strategies and plans by Sabah JBPM to prepare for the floods," he told reporters after presenting rescue machineries to the state JBPM at Kota Belud Fire and Rescue Station, here, today.
At the event, Sabah JBPM received logistical needs involving eight utility lorries while Kota Belud Fire and Rescue Station received three lifeboats, a tanker lorry with capacity of 20,000 litres and an emergency medical service vehicle.
Abdul Rahman, who is also Kota Belud member of Parliament, also supported the collaboration between JBPM and related agencies like the Civil Defence Department during floods. ― Bernama
