“In a criminal case, the bench has to assemble and hear whatever application from lawyers, “ Palace of Justice corporate communications and international relations division head Mohd Aizuddin Zolkeply told The Malaysian Insider.
The five-man panel is led by Chief Judge of Malaya Tan Sri Zulkefli Ahmad Makinudin.
National news agency Bernama reported yesterday that Dr Khir was admitted to the National Heart Institute for further checks after the Umno man collapsed when he returned from a jog around his home in Shah Alam.
The Federal Court was scheduled today to deliver its ruling on Dr Khir’s appeal against a corruption conviction over the purchase of his bungalow in Shah Alam.
The Shah Alam High Court had convicted Dr Khir of corruption in 2011 over the purchase of two plots of land and the bungalow and sentenced him to one year’s jail. The Court of Appeal subsequently upheld the former Selangor MB’s conviction.
