PAROI, Aug 1 — Umno can rule Negri Sembilan on its own without the help of its partners in Barisan Nasional (BN), Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan said today.

The state leader said to strengthen the government in the next general election, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak should consider focussing on Umno alone and not allocate seats for other BN component parties.

“We (Umno) work hard but they hardly deliver results, they are unable to win anything. Even when they win, it is in Malay majority areas with our support and help.

“We can win the state on our own. I suggest in GE14 we don’t follow what they (non Umno) say and instead give all the Malay majority seats to Umno,” he said during his speech at the Seremban division meeting today.

Mohamad also urged Najib to give leaders from component parties senatorships instead of seats if they were interested in taking up ministerial posts.

“There is no need to give them seats, if they want to become ministers, just give them a senatorship to be senators,” he said.

The Rantau MP pointed out that of the state’s 36 constituencies, Umno currently controls 22 of them.

Among the BN component parties in the state include MCA, MIC and Gerakan.
