KUALA LUMPUR, May 29 — US ambassador to Malaysia Joseph Y. Yun will cycle from Putrajaya to Singapore in a bid to promote environmental awareness in line with the World Environment Day (WED) on June 5.

The six-day expedition will begin in Putrajaya on May 31 where Yun and 15 other embassy staff will cycle through several cities and towns while also participating in various activities organised by local governments and non-governmental organisations along the way.

“The group will stop in cities along the way to meet local governments, NGOs, universities, and media to promote environmental awareness and experience local culture.

“Planned stops include Melaka, Pontian, Johor Bahru, and other cities and towns,” the US Embassy Press Office said in a statement today.

Upon his arrival in Singapore on June 5, the ambassador will partake in rainforest research at the Nanyang Technological University.

WED is the United Nations’ principal vehicle for encouraging positive environmental action, with this year’s theme "Seven Billion Dreams. One Planet. Consume with Care” aimed at reducing global consumption.
