SHAH ALAM, Dec 17 — Five football fans, including two brothers, pleaded not guilty in the magistrate’s court here today to charges of rioting during the first leg semi-final of the AFF Suzuki Cup between Malaysia and Vietnam at the Shah Alam Stadium on December 7.          

The five — Amirul Akmal Nooradzhar, 22, Zulhelmy Akmal Zainol Abidin, 28, Muhammad Naquiyuddin Sallehuddin, 19, siblings Mohd Aminuddin Hamdan, 34 and Noor Hadi Hamdan, 29, — were charged under Section 147 of the Penal Code (Act 574) which carries a maximum jail term of two years or a fine, or both, if convicted.          

They, and a few others who are still at large, were charged for rioting by attacking Vietnam supporters who were seated at the Quadrant A area in the Shah Alam Stadium at 9.50pm on December 7.         

Magistrate Ellyana Razali allowed bail at RM2,800 each in one surety and set January 22 next year, for mention. — Bernama
