KUALA LUMPUR, May 24 ― The federal government will not allow the Kinrara Damansara Expressway (Kidex) project to be implemented if the concession company failed to adhere to several conditions precedent (CP) in the contract, Works Minister Datuk Fadillah Yusof said.

He said although the project had been approved in principle through the concession agreement signed on November 15, 2013, and was approved by the Selangor Economic Action Council on February 23, 2012, the company should carry out several CP within 12 months after the signing of the agreement.

“Based on the agreement, the company has until mid-November this year to adhere to the CP before the final decision be made on whether or not the project would be implemented,” he said in a statement here yesterday.

The CP required, among others, that the company had financial ability to implement the construction work and public feedback survey.

The 26.1km expressway, which connects Kinrara and Damansara, will help smoothen the traffic flow along Damansara-Puchong Expressway and shorten the travel time for the motorists.

Fadillah said the ministry would continue monitoring closely the development of the process and all quarters were advised to continue discussing the matter without triggering disputes and untoward incidents. ― Bernama
