KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 1 ― Traffic was still slow on the North-South Highway (PLUS) in both directions from Kuala Lumpur as of 9pm tonight as more vehicles got on the roads.

A PLUS Expressway Berhad Traffic Control Centre spokesman told Bernama that conditions were at a crawl from  Seberang Jaya to Juru, Bukit Tambun Selatan/Bukit Tambun Utara to Juru and before the Penang Bridge Toll Plaza heading into the island.

It was also rather slow in the south from Nilai to Seremban and Simpang Rengam/Sedenak to Kulai.

“However, the congestion began easing with the opening of the right lane at KM67.9 south from Gurun to Pendang following an accident there,” he said.

He said the congestion was due to increased travel during the Chinese New Year and Federal Territory Day holidays which fell on consecutive days.

Meanwhile, a Lembaga Lebuhraya Malaysia (LLM) spokesman said there was an accident at KM228.1 Simpang Ampat-Pedas Linggi obstructing the left lane and causing a bumper to bumper crawl.

“The stretches from Tapah to Gopeng, before and after the Simpang Pulai and  Changkat Jering toll plazas are also bumper to bumper,” he said.
