MELAKA, Dec 28 — The assembly to topple the government, planned on new year's eve this Tuesday, will not be able to resolve current problems facing the people, Malaysian National Silat Federation (Pesaka) president Datuk Seri Mohd Ali Rustam said today.
He said those who were not happy with issues, like increase in prices of goods and electricity tariff, should voice their grouses through proper channels.
They could do so by sending protest notes or holding forums or meetings with the leaders involved, he added.
He said the people could use the mainstream media and the new media, as well as the social media, to make known their complaints and grouses to the country's leadership.
“With everything at the finger tips, there is no reason to go to the streets and demonstrate,” he told reporters after lodging a police report against the organiser of the planned assembly to topple the government at the Kandang police station here.
Mohd Ali advised Pesaka members, as well as other Malaysians, against, which he said would only bring negative effect to the country.
Meanwhile in KOTA KINABALU, Kota Kinabalu Wanita Umno leader Ruhsimah Zakaria called on the relevant authorities to take necessary measures to prevent the planned illegal assembly from being held.
Speaking to reporters after lodging a police report on the matter at the Karamunsing police station, she also wanted the police to take action against bloggers who were responsible for promoting the planned assembly.
Sabah Puteri Umno leader Normala Rasik, who lodged a similar report at the same police station, condemned those responsible for organising such an assembly.
Similar reports were also lodged by the Sepanggar Umno women, youth and Puteri wings at the Menggatal police station. — Bernama
