KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 17 — The pairing of Gan Ping Sieu and Datuk Donald Lim Siang Chai for the president and deputy president’s posts respectively might not be ideal in light of the current turmoil within MCA.

Outgoing vice-president Datuk Seri Chor Chee Heung said Gan was just too new to lead the party as he lacked political experience and the same could be said about Lim.

“But we cannot stop them from contesting as every central delegate has the right to contest for any party post as clearly stated in the party constitution,” he said.

Former party president Datuk Seri Ong Tee Keat, once dubbed as Gan’s sifu (master), insisted that Gan had plenty more to learn before he could occupy such a big position.

“Gan may face various problems and challenges if he is elected as party president.

“He may not be able to fight the attacks from Umno and opposition leaders,” Ong said.

Ong will face Gan and Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai in the race to the top post.
