KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 3 — The Selangor government had not implemented 360 or 46.7 per cent of the 771 projects approved under the 10th Malaysia Plan (10MP) in 2012.
According to the Auditor General’s (A-G) Report 2012, the projects included four projects worth RM170 million involving the upgrading of routes or roads, which could not proceed due to inadequate allocation under the 10MP, and because they were of low priority.
“Five projects worth RM378.62 million are still in the tender process planning,” according to the report tabled at the Dewan Rakyat here yesterday.
The report said two projects to upgrade the Syariah Judiciary department building and area around the Syariah lower court worth RM45,000 respectively, were dropped pending issuance of the occupancy certificate.
Meanwhile, 409 or 53 per cent of the 771 projects under the 10MP had been completed or being implemented.
According to the report, the Works department and Drainage and Irrigation department recorded the highest number of unimplemented projects, 194 and 122 respectively.
Nevertheless, the Selangor government’s development expenditure performance in 2012 was 94.6 per cent.
The report said the Selangor government must emphasise efficiency and effective planning and implementation of development projects to boost the prosperity of the state and wellbeing of the people. — Bernama
