KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 3 — Police arrested 76 foreign security guards for various offences in integrated operations in Sentul, Brickfields, Dang Wangi and Cheras, here, yesterday.
The operations from 10am until 5pm involved 115 officers and other personnel from all departments under the Kuala Lumpur police headquarters (IPPKL) and eight officers from the National Registration Department (NRD).
All the guards, still in full uniform, aged between 28 and 45 years, were brought to IPPKL for further investigation.
Kuala Lumpur Criminal Investigation Department deputy chief, ACP Khairi Ahrasa said the 34 Nepalese, 20 Pakistanis, 11 Indians, six Indonesians, two Sri Lankans and two Bangladeshis and a Filipino were arrested for not possessing valid travel documents, having expired permits, breaching their work permits and possessing someone else’s identity card.
“Today’s operations focused on seven locations in residential areas, condominiums, apartments, supermarkets, hotels, parking lots in the four police districts.
“Checks from time to time will continue to curb untoward incidents involving these people,” he told reporters here, yesterday.
In Serdang, 57 foreigners were arrested by police under an integrated crime-prevention operation (Ops Poket) within 10 days ago.
Serdang district police chief, ACP Abdul Razak Elias said the operation, which began on November 21, resulted in the arrest of mostly Nigerians, 25 men and
eight women.
“In the operation involving several law enforcement agencies including the Immigration Department and the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC), 10 Indonesian men and seven women, one Thai woman, two Vietnamese women, four Myanmar men and five local men were arrested.
“Most of the foreigners detained were involved in drug trafficking and vice, disturbing public order in the vicinity of their homes,” he told reporters after a special assembly at the Serdang district police headquarters yesterday. — Bernama
