KUANTAN, Sept 25 — Police have not made any new arrest in their investigation into the death of Pinggiran Pelangi Camp national service training programme (PLKN) trainee Muhammad Suhaimi Norhamidi.  Rompin district police chief DSP Johari Jahaya said police were still questioning the three PLKN trainees detained yesterday to assist in investigations.

“The three trainees aged 18 years would be remanded for a week,” he said when contacted here today.

Muhammad Suhaimi, 18, from Kerdau, Temerloh was found on the bathroom floor of the camp at 12.05 am on Monday by a fellow trainee and confirmed dead at Muadzam Shah Hospital about an hour later.

“The initial post mortem report states the cause of Muhammad Suhaimi’s death as internal bleeding due to head trauma by a blunt object, and the victim was believed to have been involved in a fight,” he said.

Meanwhile, National Service Training acting director general Rozainor Ramli assured parents of the safety of their children who are undergoing the PLKN.

“We take optimum measures to always ensure their safety. Although the trainee’s death is an isolated case, we will not take it lightly.  “We have set up a special team to conduct a thorough investigation. We will also identify the weaknesses or shortcomings and will make the necessary improvements,” he said. — Bernama
