KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 9 — The Philippine embassy is seeking the co-operation of the police in investigating claims that members of a cult who tried to enter Istana Negara on Monday had documents originating from the Philippines.
The Star Online today reported embassy information officer Johann Andal as describing as “bizarre” allegations by the police that the Kumpulan Panji Hitam dari Timur Empayar Langkasuka Nusantara members had documents allegedly originating from Filipino entities.
“We are equally concerned about this incident. In this respect, the Embassy Police Attache has offered his assistance to the Royal Malaysian Police in their investigations, particularly on the authenticity of the alleged documents coming from entities in the Philippines,” she was quoted as saying.
Ten people were arrested for trying to enter the front gate of Istana Negara in Jalan Duta at about 4.10am on Monday, declaring that their leader was the “true heir” to the throne.
The Star Online said those arrested included the self-proclaimed “King and Queen” and their 11-year-old daughter. The adults are being held in remand at the Travers police station lock-up, while the girl has been taken to a juvenile detention centre.
In one document, one of the men claimed to be Tuanku Sultan Raja Merongmahawangsa II @ Sultan Kedah Asli @ Yang di-Pertuan Agong Malaysia Asli @ Raja Nusantara @ Raja Utusan Allah Akhiruzaman Fasa I and Pewaris Sah Empayar Langkasuka Panji Hitam dari Timur.
Kuala Lumpur CID chief Senior Asst Comm Datuk Ku Chin Wah had reportedly said that the documents originated from the Philippines.
Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar said yesterday that police were still gathering evidence against group to charge them with offences against the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, and under the Peaceful Assembly Act 2012.
