PARIS, April 2 — Designer Ora-ito's table for luxury French furniture label Roche Bobois has been awarded a Red Dot Design Award.

First released in 2013, the table is one of the brand's best-selling pieces. Instantly recognizable thanks to its fluid three-legged design base, it was inspired by the natural world.

The stark cast metal structure is reminiscent of moving vines and contrasts with the light glass tabletop for a contemporary aesthetic.

Following a testing period by 40 jury members of the 4,815 designs entered into the competition, the table was awarded the title of ‘Best of the Best' in the Product Design category.

The Red Dot Product Design accolade was first launched in 1954 and has become a global benchmark within the design industry.

French designer Ora-ito is famous for both his own designs and his high-profile collaborations, including projects with Adidas, B&B Italia, Kenzo and Habitat, among others. —AFP-Relaxnews
