LONDON, June 2 — A triple Michelin-starred chef who’s been called the “Jimi Hendrix of Italian chefs” will be taking his cuisine from Modena to London this summer for a three-day pop-up at Sotheby’s auction house.
Chef Massimo Bottura, whose restaurant Osteria Francescana took second place at The World’s 50 Best Restaurants awards last night, announced plans to create a seven-course tasting menu designed to provoke a dialogue between art and food.
A noted art lover, Bottura sought inspiration from artist Damien Hirst to create a milk-marinated beef fillet in a tri-color sauce that evokes Hirst’s popular spin paintings.
A playful take on Ai Weiwei’s work “Dropping a Han Dynasty” is recreated in the form of an artistically smooshed “Oops! I Dropped the Lemon Tart.”
The tasting menu runs June 27-29 for £250 (RM1410).
Reservations can be made at www.sothebys.com/of.
