JUNE 3 — Safety is a priority for the management of The Gardens Mall and as part of our commitment to our visitors, we ensure that regular checks on all escalators in the mall are conducted by both Jabatan Keselamatan dan Kesihatan Pekerja (JKKP) and MS Elevators Engineering Sdn. Bhd. This is carried out to ensure that they are in compliance with all regulations regarding escalator safety.
Inspections were carried out by JKKP and MS Elevators Engineering Sdn. Bhd. immediately after the incident, and they have confirmed that it is in full compliance will all applicable laws, by-laws and regulations governing escalator safely.
We would like to make clear that the young girl did not fall through a gap or opening in the railings. The CCTV recording has been submitted to the investigating authorities. As such, we are unable to provide more information than already disclosed, to facilitate ongoing investigations.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the deceased and her family at this difficult time.
