NUSAJAYA, March 12 — Legoland Malaysia Resort hopes to get more international visitors this year especially with more attractions to be open in the coming years.
General Manager Mark Germyn said currently two-thirds of the park’s total visitors came from Malaysia and Singapore.
Without disclosing the exact number of visitors, he said, other growing international visitors were from Hong Kong, Indonesia, the Philippines, Australia, Thailand, Taiwan and China.
“We are seeing great response. With Johor having close to 23 million international visitors last year, we expect that to increase significantly this year,” he told reporters after the launch of “Legends of China”, a new addition to Miniland.
Germyn said these visitors would then translate to a positive trend for the hotel industry in the state which include Legoland Malaysia Resort.
Among the upcoming additions to the park was Lego Star Wars attraction at Miniland, featuring a 3,000-square-metre indoor area and would feature all the six Star Wars movies.
The Star Wars attraction will be open in September.
The park will also build the world’s largest Lego Garuda for its Indonesian campaign starting next month.
