SINGAPORE, May 30 — A 26‑year‑old online influencer was fined S$3,500 (RM18,882) on May 29 after she admitted to advertising and selling vapes through her personal Telegram account in 2025.
The Straits Times reported that Eunice Joy Ng pleaded guilty to selling two vape devices despite tightened laws introduced in September 2025 to curb the illicit vape trade. Court documents state that around November 2025, Ng bought five vapes at S$13 each from an unidentified Telegram seller, then advertised them on her own account. She managed to sell two devices for S$15 each and continued promoting the remaining stock until December, when the Health Sciences Authority began investigating her.
Under the law, advertising vapes for sale carries a maximum penalty of a $10,000 fine, six months’ jail, or both. Since May 1, penalties for vape‑related offences have been further strengthened under the Tobacco and Vaporisers Control Act: users can be fined up to S$10,000, while sellers face fines of up to S$200,000 and jail terms of up to **six years**.
Ng is the latest individual to be prosecuted amid a broader clampdown on the illegal vape market, which authorities say has grown more sophisticated despite repeated enforcement efforts.
