HONG KONG, April 3 — Etta Ng, Jackie Chan’s estranged daughter with former beauty queen, Elaine Ng, was hospitalised yesterday.

Hong Kong gossip sites are awash with rumours that the 17-year-old attempted suicide.

Ng did not exactly quash the speculation when met by reporters outside the hospital yesterday.

According to Ming Pao, she said that Etta was not feeling well and that they were waiting for the doctor’s report.

She then apologised and refused to answer more questions.

It is understood that Etta cut short a holiday in Thailand to return to Hong Kong yesterday.

She was immediately admitted to hospital upon her arrival.

Before her return, she is said to have posted a status update on Facebook stating that she was “feeling stressed.”

Etta’s hospitalisation is the latest twist in an ongoing saga that thrust her back into the spotlight following Ng’s arrest on March 24 on suspicion of criminal intimidation.

The teenager reportedly called the police after what has been described “a domestic incident.”

After her arrest, Ng said she had quarrelled with Etta because she saw a packet of sedatives in her daughter’s room, which the girl insisted she had not used.

The pair have a tempestuous relationship. In 2015, Ng was arrested for child abuse, amid talk of a drinking problem.

Etta was conceived after Ng and Chan began an extramarital affair in 1998. In a 2015 interview, she said that she considered the screen legend a stranger because he has not been a part of her life.

Chan is married to Taiwanese actress Joan Lin. They have a son, Jaycee, who is a successful actor in his own right.
