LOS ANGELES, June 10 — If the size or the excitement surrounding yesterday night’s Hollywood premiere is any indication of its future box office success, than the summer sci-fi flick, “Jurassic World“ is far from extinct.
Star Chris Pratt was joined by his wife Anna Faris on the red carpet for the film’s premiere at the Dolby Theatre.
“This franchise was very important in our minds and this was something we never forgot. This is a movie for the fans made by the fans of the franchise. I saw it the other day and it was awesome. People are going to love it and I can’t wait to hear what they think.”
The film, out in US theatres on Friday (June 12), revives the classic sci-fi action franchise that began with Steven Spielberg making dinosaurs come to life in 1993’s “Jurassic Park.”
But two decades on, as Bryce Dallas Howard‘s Claire slyly says in the film, no one is excited about seeing a dinosaur anymore. Yawn.
That’s why the theme park in which “Jurassic World“ is set needs to amp up the danger for visitors drawn by the adrenaline-fuelled experience of getting up close and personal with dinosaurs.
“I’m so excited. But I can completely relate because I’m so excited about the movie opening. I’m a huge “Jurassic Park“ fan. This is amazing.”
Made for US$150 million (RM561.2 million), “Jurassic World“ is projected to earn US$121 million in its opening weekend, making it one of the year’s biggest debuts. — Reuters
