LOS ANGELES, Oct 9 — A three-book series and a solo picture book are on their way from “Annie” revelation Quvenzhané Wallis.
The 12-year-old gave an Oscar-nominated performance in 2012 fantasy drama “Beasts of the Souther Wild” and appeared in the Academy Awards Best Picture “12 Years a Slave”.
Wallis then starred opposite Jamie Foxx and Cameron Diaz in Will Gluck’s 2014 remake of the musical “Annie”, co-produced by Shawn Carter (aka Jay Z).
“Reading is very important,” she said.
“It allows people to form a visual experience in their minds of what is going on in the story.
"I hope all readers enjoy using their imaginations along with me and take a journey into my books.”
The three-book series will follow third grader Shai Williams, “a star in the making” with “a flair for the dramatic”.
Its first entry is set for January 2017, the second for Fall 2017, and the third for Summer 2018.
A picture book, untitled and undated while an illustrator is selected, is loosely based on Wallis’s own experiences, featuring a “spunky young heroine who is very much looking forward to a night out with her mom at an awards show.”
Quvenzhané can next be seen in the Russell Crowe, Amanda Seyfried, and Aaron Paul drama “Fathers and Daughters,” and has the lead role in an adaptation of Holly Goldberg Sloan novel “Counting by 7s”. — AFP-Relaxnews
