KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 27 — Bank Islam Malaysia Bhd has appointed Azdini Nor Azman as the chief executive officer (CEO) and non-independent executive director of wholly owned subsidiary BIMB Investment Management Bhd effective August 1, 2023.

The group said Azdini, who joined BIMB Investment as acting CEO on March 1, 2023, assumed the CEO position after receiving official approval from the Securities Commission.

“Azdini has 26 years of extensive experience in the industry across various organisations such as Asian Islamic Investment Management Sdn Bhd, Bank Muamalat Malaysia Bhd, CFC Seymour Ltd, Bank Islam Malaysia Bhd, MIDF Amanah Investment Bank Bhd and Amanah Short Deposits Bhd,” it said in a statement today.

Prior to joining BIMB Investment, she was head of wholesale banking at Hong Leong Islamic Bank Bhd.

She is currently a member of Bank Negara Malaysia’s Islamic Financial Market Subcommittee for 2022 and 2023.

“Notably recognised for her accomplishments, Azdini was prominently ranked within the top 100 of WOMANi’s Most Influential Women in Islamic Business and Finance 2020 Report,” the statement said.

Bank Islam group chief business officer (group institutional banking) Sharifah Sarah Syed Mohamed Tahir, who is also a BIMB Investment director, expressed confidence that Azdini would steer BIMB Investment in tackling challenges of the ever-evolving financial landscape and capitalising on emerging opportunities.

This, she said, would bring the firm to new heights and create long-term value for all stakeholders. — Bernama
