KUALA LUMPUR, March 4 ― Shares on Bursa Malaysia turned mixed at mid-morning today, with some counters rebounding from recent losses and limiting the morning's downtrend.
At 11.02am, the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) was quoted at 1,820.9, down 3.79 points after fluctuating between 1,818.86 and 1,821.56.
There were 306 gainers and 244 losers, while 278 counters were unchanged, 787 untraded and 14 others suspended.
Turnover totalled 757.23 million shares worth RM446.07 million.
“Some, non-related index-linked counters rebounded, while the heavyweights remained weak.
“The possibility of a fall is still there,” RHB Research Institute technical analyst Mohammad Ashraf Abu Bakar told Bernama.
He said the Russia-Ukraine crisis was also factored in to the weak regional sentiment, leading to an investor sell-off.
On the scoreboard, the Finance Index fell 39.87 points to 16,418.53, the Plantation Index shed 2.52 points to 8,726.2, while the Industrial Index declined 14.45 points to 3,099.49.
The FBM Emas Index lost 23.34 points to 12,569.77, the FBMT100 Index lost 26.77 points to 12,260.8, and the FBM 70 was 34.77 points lower at 13,744.54.
However, the FBM ACE rose 51.18 points to 6,380.75.
Among actives, both Ingenuity and Solution Engineering added half-a-sen each to 11 sen and 32.5 sen respectively, while Luster was flat at 11.5 sen.
As for the heavyweights, Maybank inched up one sen to RM9.69 and TNB gained two sen to RM12.00.
CIMB fell 10 sen to RM6.99, while both Axiata and Sime Darby eased three sen each to RM6.54 and RM9.09, respectively. ― Bernama
