KUALA LUMPUR, April 23 — The Sungai Buloh-Serdang-Putrajaya (SSP) Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) line project is making good progress with construction work for the whole project being on schedule with more than 24 per cent completed.

Mass Rapid Transit Corporation Sdn Bhd (MRT Corp) Strategic Communications & Stakeholder Relations director, Datuk Najmuddin Abdullah said the level of progress was a good sign to ensure the project was completed within the stipulated time frame.

“Overall, the progress has surpassed 24 per cent and we are a few weeks ahead of the original schedule.“This is a good sign for a big project and it is important to be ahead of schedule in the early stages of the project because we do not know what challenges await us,” he told reporters after witnessing the  fire fighting and rescue operations demonstration at the construction site of the Bandar Malaysia MRT station, near Sungai  Besi here today.“This demonstration is important to show our level of preparedness for any emergency incidents,” he said.

Based on the current rate of development, he said it was believed that the project estimated to cost RM32 billion can achieve completion similar to the timeline designated for the  MRT project for the Sungai Buloh-Kajang (SBK) line.
