KUALA LUMPUR, June 6 — The remains of Puan Sri Noor Yvonne Abdullah, the wife of Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah, was laid to rest at the Jalan Ampang Muslim cemetery here, at noon today.

Noor Yvonne’s remains arrived at the cemetery at about 11.30am, accompanied by Tengku Razaleigh, family members and friends.

Also present at the funeral was Communications and Multimedia Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Shabery Cheek.

The funeral prayer was held at Tengku Razaleigh’s house at Jalan Langgak Golf, Off Jalan Tun Razak at about 11am.

Earlier, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak arrived at Tengku Razaleigh’s house at 8.30am and spent about 10 minutes visiting the family to pay his last respects.

The late Noor Yvonne, 68, who suffered from blood cancer died at a medical centre in Subang Jaya, last night.

Meanwhile, Kelantan Mentri Besar Datuk Ahmad Yakob extended his condolences to Tengku Razaleigh, on the demise of his wife.

“May Allah bless her soul. From Allah we came, to Allah we shall return,” Ahmad Yakob said on his Facebook page.

Earlier, several leaders including former deputy prime minister Tun Musa Hitam were also present to pay their respects.

“Tengku Razaleigh has lost an obedient and faithful spouse. I told Tengku Razaleigh, ‘you had a very good wife’,” said Musa who currently chairs the World Islamic Economic Forum Foundation (WIEF).

Also present were former Perak mentri besar Datuk Seri Tajol Rosli Ghazali; former Energy, Communications and Multimedia minister Tan Sri Datuk Amar Dr Leo Moggie; Shah Alam member of parliament (MP), Khalid Samad; former Kuala Selangor MP Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad and former Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) deputy president Dr Syed Husin Ali. — Bernama
