KUCHING, Aug 21 — Members of the public wishing to pay their last respects to two of the Malaysia Airlines (MAS) flight MH17 crash victims, whose remains will arrive here tomorrow, are advised to gather at Masjid Jamek in Petra Jaya at 3.30pm.

Sarawak Assistant Minister in the Chief Minister’s Office (Islamic Affairs) Datuk Daud Abdul Rahman said as soon as the remains of the two victims arrived at the air force base here at about 3pm, they would be brought to Masjid Jamek for prayers before burial at the Semariang Muslim cemetery here.

He said Sarawak Yang Dipertua Negeri Tun Abdul Taib Mahmud, who would be accompanied by Chief Minister Tan Sri Adenan Satem and state cabinet members, was expected to be at Masjid Jamek in the afternoon for the funeral prayers.

“The public, regardless of race, who are present are advised to wear dark attire and observe ethics,” he told a media conference at his office at Baitulmakmur building here today.

Based on the name list of the victims scheduled to arrive as announced in the federal capital today, the two remains are that of Ariza Ghazalee, 46, and her eldest son, Muhammad Afif Tambi, 19.

In Sarawak, besides Ariza, her husband Tambi Jiee, 49, and all their four children — Muhammad Afif, Muhammad Afzal, 17, Marsha Azmeena, 15 and Muhammad Afruz, 13 — who had perished in the crash, Meling Mula, 48, from Bintulu was also on the ill-fated flight.

Daud said as soon as the two remains arrived, a simple ceremony to receive them would be conducted before being brought to Masjid Jamek.

The van bringing the remains would be accompanied by police outriders, he said.
