GEORGE TOWN, May 13 ― A man in Taman Lip Sin, Sungai Nibong today only realised the object he took home from his grandfather's house in Lenggong, Perak two years ago was actually a bomb.

North East District police chief Mior Faridalathrash Wahid said the man, 31, came across the object again while cleaning up his house at 2.30pm.

“Feeling suspicious about the shape of the object, he contacted the police. A Bomb Demolition Unit went to the man's house and confirmed it was an Illuminating 81mm kaliber bomb,” he said when contacted.

He said the bomb, which was believed to be still live, was taken back to the Penang Contingent Police Headquarters for further action.

The man wanted to turn the blue-coloured object into an ash tray but forgot about it and left it stored in a corner of the house, he added. ― Bernama
