KUALA LUMPUR, June 15 — When having a plain bowl of ramen is too cliché.

A Japanese restaurant in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, has decided to merge ramen with the King of Fruits and serve it in its thorny husk.

Taking to social media, the Shan He Tang Lamian restaurant announced that the dish will be available from June 22.

In the post, the establishment said the dish was for durian lovers.

It said making the dish was not simple as one needed to open up the fruit and cut the husk into a bowl.

“Due to the difficulty, only 20 bowls will be served daily. Ten in the morning and 10 in the evening,” it said, adding that reservations are required for the dish, noting that the broth would be prepared using durian flesh.

Each bowl is priced between NT$680 (RM102) and NT$780 (RM117).

Facebook user Nervous Wei commented they would avoid the restaurant during the promotion.

This prompted the restaurant to respond the smell would not be too overwhelming as only 20 bowls would be served daily.
