KUALA LUMPUR, May 27 — Online shopping has made getting the latest clothing trends easier for customers.

Journalist Amer Hadi Azmi however was taken aback when he came across Malaysian e-commerce platform Shopee adverts promoting Nazi uniform replicas that boasted ‘satisfied customers’.

He shared the Instagram ad for a Nazi uniform replica from Shopee that was was tagged with a 40 per cent discount.

Hadi had seen the Instagram advertisement whilst scrolling through social media in the early morning and was dumbfounded.

The design of the uniform eerily replicates the regalia worn by Nazi officers in World War II, including emblems of the infamous tilted swastika that was blurred by the seller.

Prices for the costume range from RM386.57 to RM660.62.

“Setting aside any political inclinations, it is impossible to deny the aesthetically pleasing nature of Germany’s military uniforms,” the seller wrote in the product description.

“The dark military uniforms from World War II emanate a majestic and heroic aura, which still resonates with many today.

“I thought I was still in the throes of a vivid dream, having just woken up,” Hadi shared to Coconuts on his disappointment seeing the advert.

“It’s alarming to witness Shopee not only selling such an item but also promoting it as a sponsored post in such a prominent manner.”

The listing has five sales as of May 27, and some of the buyers have even given the infamous uniform a five-star rating.

“The seller was very responsive and accommodating. The freebies also awesome. Really satisfied and thank you so much,” one reviewer wrote.

The Nazi attire and symbols were used by infamous dictator Adolf Hitler’s German Nazi Party from 1935 to 1945.
