LONDON, July 16 — A British BAFTA-nominated director has released a short film exploring whether people can still find love face-to-face in a world of online dating.

In the video, filmed in late May 2015, filmmaker Samuel Abrahams’ friend Tom Greaves is shown approaching women in London’s eastern borough of Hackney. He asks them if they want to go on a date with him.

He gets many refusals but eventually succeeds in getting time alone with two women, one date is more successful than the other.

Abrahams said he got the idea for the film when discussing with Greaves how different people’s online personas are to real life.

It was made in reaction to the number of people who use dating applications to find partners, Abrahams said.

Greaves was recently single and told Abrahams he was keen to try the social experiment.

Since being posted online on July 6, it has been watched more than 300,000 times and has been discussed by various websites and people worldwide.

The original six minute video can be watched on YouTube.

The film's Facebook page can be seen here.
