NEW YORK, June 17 — Back in 2010, Shemika Charles set a world record after she limboed under 8-and-a-half inches — the height of a beer bottle.

Charles, whose mother was a limbo dancer for 16 years, practises for six hours a day.

Yet, all the training in the world won’t change a stark reality: the 22-year-old’s love for limbo puts her at risk for serious health issues — injury forced her mother to retire.

Charles sees a chiropractor once a week to have her hips realigned, because her performances put a debilitating strain on her back.

Despite growing concern for her health, she recently shimmied underneath a car — around nine inches, with certain spots being lower than others.
