LONDON, Nov 28 ― West Ham United forward Michail Antonio is back in training after injuring his hamstring last month, manager David Moyes said yesterday.

Antonio missed West Ham's Premier League defeat at Liverpool and wins over Fulham and Sheffield United after being taken off during their 1-1 draw with Manchester City, where he scored the opening goal.

“Michail has joined in training for a couple of days and we're trying to see how his hamstring is,” Moyes told reporters before Monday's home game against seventh-placed Aston Villa.

“We're trying to see how he is. It's just great to get him back out on the training pitch with us at the moment.

“We want competition for places and I think we've got that now. Hopefully, when he gets that opportunity we'll be ready.”

Sebastien Haller has stepped up for West Ham in Antonio's absence, scoring his first league goal since September and second of the season in a victory over the Blades last weekend.

“The three games that Antonio's been out, Seb's played and we're really pleased with what he's done,” the 57-year-old manager added.

“We want goals from him, we want assists and we want a lot of good general play. I'm looking forward to having both him and Michy firing.”

West Ham are eighth in the table on 14 points with four wins, three defeats and two draws so far this season. ― Reuters
