KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 13 — Comedian Trevor Noah has set an exit date on his tenure as the host of The Daily Show.

Noah will leave the desk on Thursday, December 8.

The 38-year-old comedian announced his departure from the show on September 29 during a live taping.

Alongside rumours of him dating popstar Dua Lipa, the online community was sent into a spiral of speculation and surprise.

Even his production team and colleagues weren’t aware of his decision, including Paramount CEO, Chris McCarthy.

“Trevor is an incredible talent who has left an indelible mark on The Daily Show and we’re grateful for his creative partnership over the past seven years,” McCarthy told Variety.

The Daily Show will return on January 17 2023 with ‘additional details’ to be announced.

Whether one of Noah’s correspondents, Ronny Chieng, Michael Kosta, Desi Lydic, Dulcé Sloan or Roy Wood Jr will take over or if ViacomCBS will find a new host remains unknown.

Currently, Noah and his correspondents will cover the American 2022 mid-term elections before holding a ‘celebratory look back’ at the host's greatest moments on December 5.
