KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 7 — The once popular Malaysian female pop band Elite from the 90s might make a comeback with a brand new single, according to one of the members Watie.
The girl band, which consists of Sasha, Azza, Abby, Linda and Watie, with Fiza and Hana as substitutes later on — was said to be the Malaysian version of Spice Girls back then.
Watie (Norwati binti Sadali) told Kosmo that the girls have always wanted to make a comeback as group but due to time and schedule conflicts; they never had the chance to do so.
“InsyaAllah, we will come out with a new material. Everything is still in discussion so I can’t say anything at the moment. When the time comes, we will announce it,” said the 39-year-old singer.
Watie also added that their new single would be more mature compared to their old material, as she feels that due to their age, they are not suited to sing “catchy” songs anymore.
“I believe that a more mature image and genre would be more suitable for us because we need to mind the sensitivity issue nowadays,” said Watie.
“Furthermore, Linda Rafar and Azza are now wearing hijab, so our new song has to suit the image and character of the members.” — TheHive.Asia
