KLANG, April 1 — The widow of Amirul Hafiz Omar expressed relief today after the driver accused of causing her husband’s death was charged with murder.
Nor Nadia Abdul Majid, 32, said she was satisfied with the prosecution’s decision, Free Malaysia Today (FMT) reported.
“I am very, very thankful and satisfied with the murder charge. I feel very relieved,” she was quoted as saying.
Technician R. Saktygaanapathy, 28, was charged with murdering Amirul, 33, at Jalan Raya Barat on March 29. No plea was recorded as the case falls under the High Court’s jurisdiction.
Nadia had earlier said she wanted “an eye for an eye”.
Her lawyer, Faizi Che Abu, said the family intends to file a RM1 million civil suit over Amirul’s death, although the respondents have yet to be named.
The crash occurred at about 11.40am on Sunday when the suspect’s car, reportedly travelling at high speed, struck a motorcycle head‑on while overtaking several vehicles.
The impact threw Amirul onto a Perodua Myvi, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
