KOTA KINABALU, Oct 8 — Graftbusters paid a visit to the house of Parti Warisan Sabah youth chief Datuk Mohd Azis Jamman tonight in connection with an ongoing investigation into the alleged misappropriation of RM1.5 billion worth of federal development funds for Sabah’s rural areas.

Azis said officers from the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) went to his house at about 8pm when he was out.

“At first I told them I will meet them tomorrow, but they insisted we meet tonight, so here I am,” he told reporters at an MACC office here tonight.

After a 10-minute talk with the officers, Azis said they issued him a notice to meet them again tomorrow at 10.30am. He left the MACC office on Jalan Sulaman at 10.45pm.

“We had a quick chat, I asked them for a clue what the issue was, but they said it was late, there’s nothing serious and we will talk tomorrow.

“They did not give any indication what this is about,” he added.

Azis said that as far as he knows, he is the only one called to meet with MACC tomorrow. He also said he was ready and willing to meet them.

MACC has so far arrested three people including Warisan vice-president and businessman Datuk Peter Anthony, a former assistant development secretary of the Rural and Regional Development Ministry in Putrajaya, and a construction company owner.

The owners of at least 60 more companies are expected to be called up for investigation into the suspected siphoning of rural development funds over the last six years.
